Living The Will of GOD

Yesterday, we looked at what the will of God is, because many people feel their prayers are not answered which to them wasn’t done according to the will of God, going by what 1st John 5:14 says, which is “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us”. But this scripture is often times misinterpreted by believers themselves. Today, I intend to present to you a less technical way of knowing the will of God.

I quoted several scriptures yesterday which I used to analyse the process at which believers would arrive at the will of God. True, the process started yesterday is right, but it could lead to self-confidence or self-righteousness which is what God doesn’t want. Now, what is the straight forward answer in knowing the will of God? Let’s take a look at Matthew 7:7.

Matthew 7:7 says, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you”. If you read verses 8 through to 11, Jesus explains to us that parents even with their evil mind cannot deny their children what is rightfully theirs. As He puts in verse 11 “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” Luke’s account of this in Luke 11:13 says “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” Note, the Matthew’s and Luke’s account. The Matthew’s says the Father will give “good things to those who ask Him!”

Luke’s made us know what that “good thing” is. Luke says the Father will give the “Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
What am I pointing out here? The only good thing God wants to give us is Himself! Through the Holy Spirit! What does this have to do with the will of God? It has everything to do with it. The moment you make Jesus Lord and owner of your life, the Holy Spirit is then given upon request or laying of hands. This makes everything easy. The will of God is not in the doing but in the following! Following who? The Holy Spirit!

The Holy Spirit who is now your: comforter, counselor, and helper (ref.: John 14:16) brings out Jesus who is now your life in everything you do (ref.: Colossians 3:4). Therefore, the Holy Spirit tells you when to study the WORD of God; when to pray; when to rejoice; when to give thanks and transforms you. It is not in what you do that makes you do the will of God, but you following Him is what makes you live the will of God. This is because there is no general way the Holy Spirit speaks to believers but there is a general goal which is bringing out the Christ in you!

The point here is not to check whether you remembered to pray or to rejoice or to give thank, the only thing is to listen to the word and follow. Following principles leads to self-righteousness which leads to sin, which was why the law brought about sin in the first place, but if you just follow the Holy Spirit who abides in you forever, you will live and fulfill the will of God. Therefore, whatever you ask, seek and knock will be answered because you always ask according to His will! NO STRESS, JUST FOLLOW.
