Sometimes What You Consider Right Is Actually Wrong

Hello everyone,

Proverbs 16 caught my attention when I saw verses which are of great importance in our day to day activities. Let us not deceive ourselves, if everything you use has an inventor or creator, we shouldn’t then be foolish to say the earth or the universe has no creator or there is no God. The level of chemical balance on the earth, the physiological accuracy cannot just be all by itself unless there was or is someone behind it. He has revealed Himself in many ways and has written a book by giving revelations to over 40 writers, and to as many as have believed in His existence and have received Him as Lord of their lives. I just decided to go down this route before going through what I have today, which as I said is based on verses in Proverbs 16. They may be familiar to you, but the word of God is always new every time we go through it again, and that’s what makes it fun.

Proverbs 16:25 says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” I looked at this verse in other rendition of which two caught my attention. The Message Bible puts Proverbs 16:25 thus, “There’s a way that looks harmless enough; look again—it leads straight to hell.” The second rendition which caught my attention is the Contemporary English Version which puts the same verse thus, “Sometimes what seems right is really a road to death.” It was there and then I wondered what things could appear as right to us, but are actually things leading to hell, in other words, it implies they are things we really don’t know are wrong but we count them as right. Whatever could be of such semblance to this? It was then I remembered Romans 8:6, and what does it say?

Before going to Romans 8:6, verse 5 of Romans 8 say, “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.” Then verse 6 says, “For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” The Amplified Bible puts Romans 8:6 thus, “Now the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and hereafter]. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever].”

To be carnally minded is that which many considers as right, but it leads to hell or death. What does it mean to be carnally minded or having the mind of flesh? The Amplified Bible says the mind of the flesh is using sense and reason without the Holy Spirit. In other words, living your life without being led by the Holy Spirit/Jesus. Why is this important? This is important because when you live your life without being led by the Holy Spirit, you would eventually do that which is not in line with the ways of God, thus doing what is against the mandate God has for you.

With all these, Proverbs 16:3 say, “Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.” AMP. What this verse means is that plans cross our minds every now and then, but before carrying it out, it is important to present these plans of your before the Lord, He alone would then allow whatever you have as your plans to conform with His thoughts, which would then be agreeable with His will. Now, when you roll your thoughts to the Lord, how exactly to do know if what is committed to the Lord is agreeable to His will? To find out, log on next time as I elaborate more on the question posed.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!

Having a Happy Heart and Cheerful Mind Always

 Hello everyone,

Proverbs 17:22 says, “A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.” AMP. This verse is a very powerful one which has a deep message in it. Let me explain the power within this verse.

A happy heart and a cheerful mind isn’t just something someone has like that, especially when it involves good medicine and healing. The human effort could attain this through various methods attached to it. Remember, the broken spirit dries up the bones. This verse isn’t figurative completely, it also has its strong literary meaning.

The heart of man cannot stay happy and cheerful all the time, the reason is that everything has a source, and the source Man has isn’t a happy and cheerful one. But there is a source that comes with being happy and cheerful all the time.

When you receive Jesus into your life, He becomes your life, and the old life passes away. And everything that Jesus has right now seated at the right hand of God is what we now have in our spirit, because our spirit is who we are.

This new spirit is a brand new life of Jesus which we now live. The spirit that functions within Jesus is the Holy Spirit, which implies that the spirit which we attained is the Holy Spirit. And as we live according to the Holy Spirit, we then portray the characteristics of the Holy Spirit naturally through how we live which is the fruit of the Holy Spirit which includes: love, joy, peace, patience (longsuffering), kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control (ref. Galatians 5:22-23). This is when we can be happy all the time and have a cheerful, then we start to see the good medicine and healing the verse was talking about.

Even though we have the Holy Spirit living in us, it is our choice to follow Him or be led by Him. This is why those who are born of God cannot be depressed or sick, or anything Jesus doesn’t have. We are to know who we are by looking and fixing our eyes on Jesus in order to unleash the fullness of Christ in our everyday life such as having a happy heart and a cheerful mind every second of our lives.

This Is Why You're Righteous

Hello everyone,

If I ask you if you are righteous, I could guess your possible answer, which would be “No” or “I’m not”. But do you know that you are righteous? Now, when I say do you know, I’m referring to every one of you on earth. It sounds strange or incorrect, right? Wrong, now let me tell you why everyone is righteous.

When Jesus died on the cross, He didn’t die for only a selected few or a set of people. Jesus died for the whole world, (ref.: John 3:16). The Amplified Bible puts 2 Corinthians 5:21 thus, “For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].”

Jesus Himself was the only One who was perfect before God, no matter how much we tried to be perfect before God we couldn’t attain perfection, in other words, we were not righteous, only Jesus was. Now, because we needed another life to survive, and righteousness to stand before God, Jesus had to become the lamb without blemish for the whole world, in exchange for His righteousness. This was how we got His righteousness. But one thing we must understand is that God gives, and it is left for us to take. In other words, it is our choice to receive what God has offered us, which is why in attaining the righteousness of God is to believe in the One who gave it to you because the righteousness of God is Jesus Himself. You cannot receive or use what you don’t believe in; Jesus and righteousness are one and the same. Which is why John 3:18 says, “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

God made everyone on earth righteous, but it is left to us to receive this righteousness or to reject it, and it is as simple as confessing with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead that you receive the righteousness of God, (ref.: Romans 10:9). This is the way because that was how Jesus gave us His righteousness in exchange for our sins. Therefore, confessing and believing what is in Romans 10:9 is an attestation and an acknowledgment of what Jesus did by giving you His righteousness, which is actually Himself.

We must know that we are not righteous by what we did, but by what He did, which is by grace lest any man should boast, (ref.: Ephesians 2:8).

Why Do We Sin After Being Born Again?

Hello everyone,

Yes, we had a sinful nature which was completely against who God is, and as a result of the sinful nature, we portrayed the works of the flesh such as adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness and many more. This was normal because we were not in right standing with God, but then we accepted Jesus into our lives, it felt like heaven on earth, we were on fire for Jesus, it happened we didn’t have any form of works of the flesh. But after several months passed, all of a sudden we weren’t on fire as we felt when we received Jesus into our lives, not only that, we started seeing the works of the flesh raising its ugly head in our lives. We could see things like jealousy, lust, envy, and even fornication rearing its heads in our lives. I thought we were saved from these acts of sin when we received Jesus into our lives? So why all these sinful acts? Does that mean we are no longer righteous or holy any longer? Is it going right back to the beginning of having a sinful nature all over again? Today, I’ll look into all these questions that bother us in our Christian lives.

The very first thing we should know is that while we were still in the very act of sin, not ready to change, Jesus died for us and made us righteous, (ref.: Romans 5:8). This was how God demonstrated His love towards us. What this means is that it wasn’t because we chose to change our lifestyle that Jesus then decided to die for us, in other words, it wasn’t by what we did that God made us righteous, but because of what Jesus did. In the same vein, it wasn’t because of what we did that we had the sinful nature, we were born with it because of what Adam did. In the real sense it was never because of what we did, but because of the sin nature, we found ourselves in. So, is that it? I’m not done yet.

God’s love for Man was so much that rather than wiping us away, He found a way of saving us while He kills the sin spirit in us. In other words, we had to die in order to live, and in living, we were resurrected into a brand new life, not under the first Adam, but under the new and last Adam—Jesus. But that’s not all.

We are Spirit beings, we possess a soul, and live in a body, (ref.: 1 Thessalonians 5:23). The Spirit in us which is the most important, in other words, the Spirit is our life and this life was a spirit of sin, but this spirit died and a new Spirit was given in order for us to live, and this Spirit is the Spirit of Jesus, the Spirit of Truth, which is the same Spirit of God. In other words, we were reconnected back to God. Now, that this is clear, why do we still fall into sin?

The acts of sin don’t come from our new Spirit, but from our soul which is a combination of our mind, will, and emotion. It is also the place where our consciousness dwells. The most important to God is our Spirit, which is why we are righteous in God’s eyes now because we have the exact Spirit of Jesus Christ. The Spirit is meant to be the grand commander which the soul is meant to obey, and the soul is that which the body is meant to obey. In other words, the soul is the link between the Spirit and the body. The question now is, are our souls obeying the Spirit? And if not, what is causing the disobedience? Log on tomorrow, same time as I address this questions?

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Be On The Look Out

Happy Sunday everyone,

In my last write-up, I looked at the second chapter of the second letter of Apostle to Timothy. Still, on my emphasis on knowing what message we are to listen to, thus being able to identify the true message from the fake message, I looked at 2 Timothy 2:15 which was about being properly grounded on the Word of God especially when it has to do with teaching the Word. I then started a proper view at what made Paul make this statement by looking at chapter two of the letter, because Apostle Paul wrote was concerned about the church and didn’t want anyone who isn’t well grounded in the Word to become a teacher, in other words only persons who are properly grounded in the Word with true understanding could become teachers, and these are people Timothy was to look out for. Today, I would continue going through the chapter.

To continue from where I stopped, let’s look at 2 Timothy 2: 3 and 4, “Take [with me] your share of hardship and suffering [which you are called to endure] as a good (first-class) soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of [civilian] life; his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him.” AMP. To understand these verses, what Apostle Paul passed across to Timothy was that, those who have received Christ should always be alert as a soldier. As a soldier, you don’t give room for any form of distraction, you should be aware of your surroundings, in this case, is the world. The devil is always ready to bring deceit to people by taking them away from the truth, and a true soldier should be alert and be able to identify with tricks of the devil.

Paul reminded Timothy the hardship and suffering him, [Timothy] went through to ensure that the Word remained what it was. Now, what must remain is the foundation which Christ called us into; the reason is that once the foundation is gotten right, whatever we build on it is led by Holy Spirit. The foundation has to do with the victory we have gotten through the Grace of Jesus Christ, becoming joint heirs with Christ, being taken away from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of Christ, [ref.: Colossians 1:13].

We should always be alert in order identify the schemes of the devil and would be meditating on the Word of God and allowing the Holy Spirit to lead you since the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ who is the Spirit of God. By doing this, you would be alert, just as Jesus was at all times, an example was His temptation by the devil.

To be engaged in civilian affairs is dangerous because it is full of distractions, which gives room for the devil to plant his seed. A person who is easily distracted, even if he is always the first to get to church and has the highest degree, cannot teach the Word because he won’t know when he teaches adulterated Truth. Be on the alert because distractions are around the corner.

Never Miss The Bulls Eye

Happy weekend everyone,

My emphasis lately has been on how we could identify the true message of Christ from the wrong teachings which many churches today receive. There are churches which they unknowingly deviate from the truth, but Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:15, which says, “Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analysing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.” AMP. What this means is that, the ordained leaders of churches are to be very sound in the Word of God, thus always focused on the Truth and not deviating, not even an inch, it is with this form of stability that they pass the message of Truth to the church, because it is very easy for the Truth to be adulterated. The question now is to know what led Apostle Paul to write this verse. In order to find out, I’ll take a look at 2 Timothy 2 from verse 1 down to 15, to get a clearer picture for proper edification.

Using the Amplified version, verse 1 and 2 of 2 Timothy 2 says, “SO YOU, my son, be strong (strengthened inwardly) in the grace (spiritual blessing) that is [to be found only] in Christ Jesus. And the [instructions] which you have heard from me along with many witnesses, transmit and entrust [as a deposit] to reliable and faithful men who will be competent and qualified to teach others also.” What Paul meant here was that first of all as Timothy had received the undiluted Word of God (the Truth) which is ONLY found in Jesus Christ, he should transmit the exact message of Truth to faithful men who are competent and qualified to teach others.

Apostle Paul emphasised on the fact that Timothy shouldn’t just ordain teacher anyhow, but he should ensure that those whom he would ordain are people who properly understood the Word of Truth properly without any flaws. The essence was because if this isn’t done, the message would be adulterated and when they also want to pass the message forward would do the same and the message would just get adulterated more and more till the Truth is lost completely, this was and still is the reason why any minister of Christ must be well grounded on the foundation, who is Jesus Christ and the benefits of His resurrection in our lives and its importance would eventually deviate from the truth.

Log on next time as I continue to explain chapter 2 of the second letter of Apostle Paul to Timothy.

Your Home Base Has Changed Focus

Hello everyone,

There are things you do, the way and manner at which you do them that people would recognise where you’re from and may ask you to confirm their thoughts. This is as a result of how you were brought up and how you lived your life, the same should be said of those born of God. The early church acted so much like Jesus that the people of Antioch gave them the name Christians, meaning ‘like Christ’ (ref.: Acts 11:19-26), but is that the case today, can anyone say that about you. I’m not talking about being a religious fanatic, rather what I mean is can they see Jesus Himself manifest in the way you live?

Colossians 3:1-2 says, “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not things on the earth.” The Message Bible puts it thus, “So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from his perspective.” The Message Bible just made Colossians 3:1-2 very clear.

Having received the new life in Christ Jesus, you are meant to act like it, people should see that your life naturally reflects Christ in everything you do, and not a religious sentimental way of life. As true Sons of God, your focus should be where Christ is because He is now your life and He lives inside of you, and He is the reason why you are a Son of God. Christ is our perfection, so we are to focus on His very essence which is by looking above and not being focused on things on this earth. As you keep doing this you get transformed and you see things from a perspective, which shows a good sign of Spiritual growth.

By setting your mind on things above is to allow the gift—Holy Spirit—you received become relevant in your life. When you focus on things on this earth, you don’t hear the Holy Spirit when He speaks because you were not listening, but focused on the earth, and you won’t portray the very life of Christ.

To reflect the life of Christ is not a religious act as I said earlier, instead, it is a display of your real and true life, by being guided by the Holy Spirit. So, let us not be carried away, but we should be focused on who we are, and our perfection—Christ Jesus.
