We All Have Giants In Our Lives?

Hello everyone,

I recently listened to a sermon that talked about overcoming the giants in one’s life. When I listened to the sermon, the Lord put in my heart certain things which I would share with you today.

When you hear the word giant, the first thing that would most likely come to mind is the giant most read about in the Bible—Goliath. The story of David and Goliath is a very popular one indeed. But a lot can be learnt from the story itself which relates a lot to our daily lives.

Goliath happened to be the giant of the Philistine army who threatened the lives of the Israelites back in the days when Saul was King of Israel in 1 Samuel 17. The heart of the army of Israel melted at the sight of Goliath, of course judging from his height, physique and numerous victories to his name. These soldiers were very courageous on a normal day, but seeing Goliath as an opponent made the courage disappear. But come to think of it, doesn’t that sound like you?

Everybody has a giant in their lives. We may be confident over several circumstances and situations, but there is this one thing which seems to stand in our way, that which seems to eat up your courage and confidence, which brings fear and worry. No matter how small it appears, it is a giant in your life. But the question now is, do we really have a giant in our lives? Let’s go back to the Goliath story.

The army of Israel saw Goliath as a giant in their lives, but when David came around to see his brothers who were in the army as he ran an errand to his brothers from his father, he saw the giant, but guess what, the giant Goliath wasn’t a giant to David at all! Why was that?

David was a shepherd boy who had fought bears and lions which attacked his father’s sheep. One thing with his continuous stay with the sheep was that David was being trained by the One who made him defeat the bear and the lion. And this person found his rest and confidence in Him because David found out that this person was bigger than any bear or lion. And who is this person?—God. His confidence was in God Whom He had spent time with daily.

Everyone faces one challenge or the other, which is a giant in their life, but Goliath, who thought was a giant to David, was never a giant to him from the start, and why was that?

David had come to have a relationship with the One who was greater than the giant. The One who has put everything under His feet including what we call giant, it was David’s understanding of God that gave him so much confidence to stand tall to confront Goliath because he knew who got his back, and knew that Goliath was already under His feet, which was why he said in 1 Samuel 17:45, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.”

David understood that the sword, spear, and javelin were nothing close to the LORD God Almighty. His relationship with God increased his confidence in God, which he knew his enemies had been trampled over. This is how we are to see our giants as defeated; even though they exist, they cannot overpower us because “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4).

We shouldn’t see ourselves being attacked by the giant because if we do, we will always lose the battle. Just like David, he understood that the giant wasn’t coming against him, rather the giant was coming against God, likewise, as we place our lives in Christ, we are to see all our giants under Jesus, because all authority has been given to Him, and we are in Him, and He lives His life through us.

David didn’t wake up one day and knew that God was the One to place all his confidence on, to be able to confront any giant that came his way. There was something more, that he did to know that there was no giant that is greater than God in any way. And knowing what David knew is what we need to know to understand that we never had any giant in the first place. So, what did David know? Log on tomorrow at the same time in the continuation of this write-up.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!

Respect Your Governing Authorities

Hi everyone,

It is right to always respect the authority of the government just we are advised in Romans 13:1-7, but when we look at our government in this present day and age, some things could make you not respect the government. Well, that doesn’t mean Apostle Paul never had things that were issues from the government, so what did he mean by being subject to the governing authorities?

Romans 13:1 says, “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinances of God, and those who resist will bring judgement on themselves.” The truth of the whole matter is that we are always to be subject to the governing authorities if and only if they are subject to God. This is important because Romans 13:1 emphasised that there is no authority except from God and that all authorities are appointed from God. This is why you cannot be subject to an authority that isn’t subject to God.

God is the supreme authority, which as Sons of God you honour because He lives in you and is your life, so you being subject to any governing authority would be being subject to God because that authority is subject to God, but if the authority isn’t subject to God, you cannot serve two masters, you are either for God or against Him.

With some laws put in place in some countries where homosexuality is seen as normal, this isn’t being subject to God because that isn’t how God made us. God made Adam and Eve and not Adam and Steve, this is already established in the Bible that man and woman He made them, to procreate the earth.

The Holy Spirit establishes what the word of God says, He interprets to us what the word of God says for the transformation of our soul, and He cannot go outside what the word has established. We should be mindful of satan's devices as he is a mastermind in twisting the scriptures to confuse the church and the world as a whole. Anyone who isn’t subject to God is not to be subject to, that doesn’t mean you should rebel against the government. What you are meant to do is to be subject to God as He leads you when you worship and praise Him, and do what He tells you to do, and not you taking laws into your own hands.

Daniel is an example of remaining subject to God when the governing authority is no longer subject to God. The governors and satraps created a plot against Daniel: All the governors of the kingdom, the administrators and satraps, the counsellors and advisors, have consulted together to establish a royal statute and to make a firm decree, that whoever petitions any god or man for thirty days, except you, O king shall be cast into the den of lions. 10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.” Daniel 6:7 & 10.

Daniel did what he normally does because he feared God and not man. In other words, God’s decree was weightier than any other decree. Peter and John were arrested after they made the crippled man walk. After being arrested and released, the authorities warned them not to speak at all or teach in the name of Jesus. This was Peter and John’s response, “But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” Acts 4:19-20. Peter also said in Acts 5:29, "Then Peter and the apostles replied, We must obey God rather than men." AMP. God is the one we are subject to and not man. We obey God and not man, and we become subject to any authority that is subject to God because that authority was truly placed by God.

The Logic by Faith (re-posted)

Happy Sunday everyone,

Do you know that there is logic in faith? The reason why I’m saying this is because most times, faith often times doesn’t make sense, but that is because we really don’t take our time to reason, and when I say reason, I mean reason in believing the One who told you—God. The logic of faith isn’t something that should sound impossible, but something that we can reason with.

Using a simple definition of logic, it is “reasoning conducted or assessed according to strict principles of validity.” So, one thing is clear, reasoning in logic flows with strict principles that are assessed. Many years ago, man couldn’t fathom the possibility of an aeroplane or television, but today following strict principles which can be explained when assessed or conducted through reasoning, have established all what we once called impossible. Something similar is what is happening to man today. They have hardened their heart to believe that what God says He has given us as Grace is impossible to believe through faith, even when evidence has shown and have proven the existence of knowledge, even though they are beyond the understanding of man. So how can faith be understood through logic?

God, has said He never goes against His word (ref.: Isaiah 55:11), in other words, He has laid down certain principles, which He can never go against. This is logic because it implies that everything God does falls within the principles He Himself laid, which is His word. So, nothing God does should catch us by surprise because they fall within the principles He laid.

To make this logic by faith clearer, His principles, are all embedded in His word, and this word as we understand according to John 1:1 is a person, and John 1:14 makes us understand that this word became flesh in the person of Jesus Christ. This means, every principle of God is embedded in Jesus Christ, in other words, He cannot function outside of Jesus Christ, (ref.: Colossians 1:16-17), for in Him dwells the treasures of the wisdom of God (ref.: Colossians 2:3).

Now, God said He has given us His principles free of charge, which we really don’t deserve, so why is it hard to believe this, because when we receive Jesus as our life, we then fully understand the logic of God through faith, as our reasoning faculty after receiving Jesus would surpass the limited logic of man. We then understand the logic of how Moses split the red sea; how the wall of Jericho fell down; how Jesus fed the five thousand; how He walked on water and calmed the storm; how Jesus raised the dead, healed the sick, cast out demons and so on, all because we have received the principles and logic of God in the person of Jesus. This is why 1 Corinthians 2:16 says, we have the mind of Christ, and the things which God did before the advent of Jesus which were mysteries because of their limited logical reasoning are no longer mysteries to those who have received Jesus (ref.: Colossians 1:26).

The logic by faith allows us to do all things through the logic of God—Jesus Christ (ref.: Philippians 4:13). Digging deep into Who we have received is what we are to do, because unlike the logic of man which is limited, the logic of God is unlimited, which is why we need another Spirit in order to understand it [Him], for as the Bible says, the words of God cannot be understood by the ordinary man because he is limited (ref.: 1 Corinthians 2:14). So, when God says a thing because we now have the logic of God as our life, we then take His word as ye and amen (ref.: Hebrews 4:12). Therefore, don’t function with the logic of man, rather function with the logic by faith.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Relax, Jesus Didn't Die For Nothing (re-posted)

Hello everyone,

Last time I looked into Romans 8:1-2 which emphasised that there is no longer any condemnation to those who are born of God because of the new Spirit of Christ, the new Spirit of Christ in those born of God have a Spirit to please God which affects how they live and behave. Today, I’ll continue with a look at Romans 8.

Romans 8:3-5 speaks of sin being subdued by Jesus, thus allowing the righteous and just requirement of the Law being met in those who are born of God, thereby not living according to the dictates of the flesh, but being controlled by the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:6 says, “Now the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and hereafter]. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever].” AMP.

What surprised me is that the mind of the flesh is sense and reason, but without the Holy Spirit. The way man reasons with his senses which seems normal would bring death, and why is that? It is so because the Spirit which the first Adam got from his disobedience was the Spirit of death, and by death, it means everything that comes out of the Spirit, the thought, words, deeds, actions, reactions, and others. This implies that once our Spirit isn’t the Holy Spirit then the result leads to death.

On the other hand, the mind of the Holy Spirit is life and peace which lives forever because it is attached to life who is Jesus, which means that any reason is being guided by the Holy Spirit and it leads to life, the life of the Holy Spirit is a pure life and not a psychological reshaping of the mind without an actual change of the mind, because if there wasn’t a real change of the Spirit, then there was no reason for Jesus to have died, it wouldn’t have made any sense to die for nothing. Jesus simply would have taught us how to work on our mind, and He would have become a philosopher having His own theories of life. so, it remains clear that Jesus’ sole aim was to save the world by giving us a new life, so don’t take this for granted.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

It's a Mirage! (re-posted)

Hi everyone,

Going by what I wrote last time, we now understand that the moment we received Christ as Lord we became righteous, and it didn’t come by works, but as a gift through faith, likewise we cannot be unrighteous through our works, but by renouncing Christ as Lord. There is a new level you have been placed that makes you “immune” to the sinful nature. As the Bible says in Ephesians 2:6 that we seated with Christ Jesus in heavenly places. If we were unrighteous we won’t and would never sit with the righteous One who is Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For He [God] made Him [Jesus] who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

Now that you who are righteous in Christ know that you have Christ living in you literarily, the question now is, why do those born of God still giving the devil power? What do I mean by this?

Many of us think we get attacked by the devil. I used to think that way too until I studied the scriptures better with the Holy Spirit opening my eyes to deeper insights. So today, I will show you how powerless the devil is, and how he doesn’t any power. I’m sure it is dawning on many of us at the moment that the devil doesn’t have any power, but still, I must break this down to us.

Now, where should I start? In John 8 Jesus spoke of the devil where He said in verse 44, “…He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in himWhen he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources [in other words, his native dialect], for he is a liar and the father of it. There is nothing the devil would say or do that is the truth, because he can never stand in the truth, which implies that all that we call attacks from the devil have all been fake. This may not be convincing enough, let me go further.

Let’s look at Colossians 2:15, Apostle Paul wrote on what God did when Jesus went to hell when He died, “He stripped all the spiritual tyrants in the universe of their sham authority at the Cross and marched them naked through the streets.” Message. The devil lost his powers because the powers he possessed were given to him by Adam which was what God disarmed him.

Jesus said in Mark 16:17-18 when He rose from the dead, “And these signs will follow those who believe: in My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

The truth is that just as we see a pond on the water in the desert and as we get close it disappears, likewise, the devil’s attack is to us. What the devil wants us to do is to acknowledge that we are attacked because our tongue carries power, so the devil speaks to our thoughts and it is left for us to believe his lies or rebuke them using the Word of God as the sword and shield of faith.

Unless the devil is as powerful as Christ [GOD FORBID!!!] then you can be attacked, or don’t you get it? You cannot protect yourself, Jesus is our protection because we are in Him and live in Him.

Remember this, “We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.” 1 John 5:18.

Sometimes, What You Consider Right Is Actually Wrong (re-posted)

Hello everyone,

Proverbs 16 caught my attention when I saw verses which are of great importance in our day to day activities. Let us not deceive ourselves, if everything you use has an inventor or creator, we shouldn’t then be foolish to say the earth or the universe has no creator or there is no God. The level of chemical balance on the earth, the physiological accuracy cannot just be all by itself unless there was or is someone behind it. He has revealed Himself in many ways and has written a book by giving revelations to over 40 writers, and to as many as have believed in His existence and have received Him as Lord of their lives. I just decided to go down this route before going through what I have today, which as I said is based on verses in Proverbs 16. They may be familiar to you, but the word of God is always new every time we go through it again, and that’s what makes it fun.

Proverbs 16:25 says, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” I looked at this verse in other rendition of which two caught my attention. The Message Bible puts Proverbs 16:25 thus, “There’s a way that looks harmless enough; look again—it leads straight to hell.” The second rendition which caught my attention is the Contemporary English Version which puts the same verse thus, “Sometimes what seems right is really a road to death.” It was there and then I wondered what things could appear as right to us, but are actually things leading to hell, in other words, it implies they are things we really don’t know are wrong but we count them as right. Whatever could be of such semblance to this? It was then I remembered Romans 8:6, and what does it say?

Before going to Romans 8:6, verse 5 of Romans 8 say, “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.” Then verse 6 says, “For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” The Amplified Bible puts Romans 8:6 thus, “Now the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that comprises all the miseries arising from sin, both here and hereafter]. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever].”

To be carnally minded is that which many considers as right, but it leads to hell or death. What does it mean to be carnally minded or having the mind of flesh? The Amplified Bible says the mind of the flesh is using sense and reason without the Holy Spirit. In other words, living your life without being led by the Holy Spirit/Jesus. Why is this important? This is important because when you live your life without being led by the Holy Spirit, you would eventually do that which is not in line with the ways of God, thus doing what is against the mandate God has for you.

With all these, Proverbs 16:3 say, “Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.” AMP. What this verse means is that plans cross our minds every now and then, but before carrying it out, it is important to present these plans of your before the Lord, He alone would then allow whatever you have as your plans to conform with His thoughts, which would then be agreeable with His will. Now, when you roll your thoughts to the Lord, how exactly to do know if what is committed to the Lord is agreeable to His will? To find out, log on next time as I elaborate more on the question posed.

The Power Within, and The Power Within? (re-posted)

Hello everyone,

Today’s write-up is just what I would like to call a recap on a write-up in the past, but with a dash of elaboration. The focus today is that the Sons of God weren’t given any power or authority directly, and yet again they were given power and authority Jesus has by God. Now, let me elaborate.

Colossians 3:3-4 says, “For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.” Sons of God no longer have what they call “life” because Christ Jesus is now their life. Colossians 3:3, in particular, is related to Psalms 91:1-2 which says, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.”” The Lord God is now our refuge and fortress, why? This is because, as Sons of God, our lives are now hidden in Christ Jesus which is the secret place. Therefore, if any spiritual force looks at us, they don’t see us, rather, they see Jesus because we are hidden in Him, hidden in His perfection and victory, He is now our life.

To understand why we weren’t given the power and authority directly, we would see this whenever signs and wonders are performed through us. The reason why some Sons of God are bothered that signs and wonders don’t function through them every time is because they feel the power comes from them through their effort in Christ, because they think that’s how it was given to them, but that is wrong, the power comes directly from Jesus and goes through us. We are only a means to the person who needs the miracle. Jesus is the only One who was given the power and authority, which flows through us, and once we understand that it is not by how much scriptures you know, or how well you prayed, but by faith, that is understanding that the fullness of Christ flows through you, then you’ll see God/Christ working and functioning in your life freely. Now, that we understand this, I’ll explain why we were given the power and authority.

As I quoted at the beginning of this write-up, we died and our lives are now hidden in Christ, who is now our life, (ref.: Colossians 3:3-4). Romans 8:17 has explained to us that we are joint heirs with Christ, in other words, we are one with Christ Jesus, just the way Jesus said, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father” (ref.: John 14:9), likewise, if anyone sees us, then they’ve seen Jesus. Also, as He is, so are you in this world (ref.: 1 John 4:17). The oneness of the church (Sons of God) and Jesus as the same entity was made clear by Jesus Himself to Apostle Paul when he was still known as Saul when he encountered Jesus as Jesus said to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” (ref.: Acts 9:4). This goes to show that we and Jesus are one. We are one in Spirit, in other words, our Spirit and that of Jesus are one and the same, just as the Spirit of Jesus is one and the same with God the Father, and this is why we are Sons of God. Now, how did we receive the power and authority Jesus has?

I have explained on several occasion that the moment we received Jesus as Lord of our lives, we received His fullness into our lives as our new life, in other words, the power and authority which God gave Jesus is now living inside everyone who has received Jesus as Lord, because, “the new creation” personality being referred to in 2 Corinthians 5:17 who is now the one living in everyone born of God is Jesus!

So, as Sons of God, we need to understand that we don’t have our old life anymore, the life we now have is the life of Jesus in its fullness. Thus, as we walk with God, we need to understand that it is Jesus living through us, also, we need to study and meditate on Jesus in every sense of it, in order to know the power that is at work in us, so that when we say “in the name of Jesus”, we would know that Jesus Himself is the One and NOT us working.
