The Faith of Enoch

Hello everyone,

Yesterday, I wrote a very brief introduction to the faith of Enoch with my reference from Hebrews 11:5-6. The only thing written about Enoch’s life were just four verses in Genesis, precisely Genesis 5:21-24. Other areas which had a significant talk about Enoch are Hebrews 11:5 and his prophecy in Jude 1:14-15. What made Enoch so special that God had to take him away in order not to experience death? Let’s find out.

It was said that Enoch had faith, and he walked with God, (ref.: Hebrews 11:5; Genesis 5:24). To walk with God is an act of righteousness which every Son of God is expected to have, (ref.: 2 Corinthians 5:7). We must remember that the faith is spoken of here is not the faith of man, but the faith of God which doesn’t have its foundation from the thoughts of man. To have faith implies that you are holding on to something revealed to you by God, which has come to pass, but not necessarily at the moment the person is physically, but in the future time frame, and this is what is believed and held on to as real, this is faith. In order to strengthen one's faith, walking with God is the only option, and today with the resurrection of Christ, all those who have received Christ, have God dwelling in them as the Holy Spirit through Christ Jesus. But Enoch was just the seventh generation from the first Adam, how did he have so much faith?

Enoch walked with God, and as he did so, God revealed the end of the world to him which he then prophesied, (ref.: Jude 1:14-15). Now, concerning God taking him away from this earth, it was revealed to Enoch that that could be done. To hold on to your faith, you need to have hope which is strengthened by God. This hope reminds you of that which has been in your heart and has been given to you by God, and this was what Enoch saw. And as at that time, no one had the fullness of God dwelling in them, even Enoch didn’t have the fullness of God dwelling in him, but he walked with God. His generation was highly corrupt that God had to take him away from the world in order not to experience death, we have also received freedom from death. Death came when Adam fell, and now that those who are Sons of God aren’t under the first Adam but under the last Adam, death has no control over you. Now, many think it is only our Spiritual bodies, but the truth is that it also applies to our mortal bodies. If this was not so, why would our bodies be called the temple of God, and why would the bodies rise on the last day?

The bodies of the saints rising on the last day would be metamorphosed, but the truth is that the metamorphosis starts now. The bible says in Proverbs 4:18, “But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.” Ephesians 4:13 also says this about the saints, “till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. To be transformed by the renewal of our mind is to properly know and understand who we truly are by grace through faith. There are so many passages in the bible which establishes that we would be metamorphosed as we walk with God, and this was what happened to Enoch.

Enoch had seen the end, and to see the end would definitely mean the coming of Christ to save the world and His second coming were revealed to him. Another key thing which was said in Hebrews 11:5 was that Enoch had a testimony of pleasing God, and to please God is to believe and hold on to the grace which we have received through faith in Christ Jesus irrespective of whatever opposition we face, and for Enoch, there was a lot of opposition during his time.

To please God by living and walking a life of faith is easy and yet not easy. It is easy because all we have to do is just believe, but it isn’t easy because we would have to say no to every opposition that comes against the rock of faith that we stand on be it your parents, siblings, husband, wife, children, friends, family, the government and so on. This could be difficult, but this is why we have the Holy Spirit who constantly strengthens us from time to time.

To hold on to our faith most times appears silly to others, but when we have that hope first of all, and it has been confirmed that we have received that we hoped for through grace and is confirmed through the word of God, this is what helps us know that we aren’t silly, but are sure of what we hold on to, which was what Enoch had. He had an assurance which kept him going on and on till God took him. Walking with God as Him walking through you is the way we see that we have more than what Enoch had, so hold on to God/Christ as He is ever ready not only in your time of need but every time.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!

The Faith of Enoch (Introduction)

Happy New Week everyone,

I love reading Hebrews 11, but recently I was going through the chapter again and then I got to verse 5 and then saw its connection with verse 6. Verse 6 says, "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." I then read verse 5 which says, "By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, "and was not found because God had taken him"; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God." I was really amazed at what dawn on me the more about the life of Enoch. It was not just that he pleased God that made God take him away, but there was this faith he had which was linked to God taking him away. This faith of his was what made me jump off my seat full of revelation. Today is just an introduction to the faith of Enoch, so log on same time tomorrow and find out what I found out. Even if you know everything about the life of Enoch, try to log still. But I'd love if you go through the Hebrews 11, it's a powerful chapter.

Animals Are So Organised?

Happy Sunday everyone,

I look at animals and many times I’m so amazed at some of their behaviours towards things, especially the use of their instincts. I used to rare domestic fowls at little over ten years ago, well for a short time, and I saw how the hen took care of their young ones, how unique it was. Another thing which surprised me was their accuracy on when they wake up and when and where they sleep. It is easy to say they know when to sleep because they study the sky, but there was a time it was completely cloudy, as it was raining, they didn’t run to their shed, but when it was time to sleep, they knew, it was really a surprise to me. The instincts of animals are so unique, in as much as we call them animals, they are so unique and organised in their own way, as they do what they know how to do, but the question now is, why aren’t human beings that organised? Is the question surprising you? I’ll tell you why.

Animals do not have the ability to think or be rational at doing things, but what we don’t know is that what we call instinct is not just instinct, it is a call to obedience, God has put something in them which they obey, and they obey God’s directions as they were created. My point here is not for anyone to behave like an animal, of course, we weren’t created as animals, and we were created for a purpose which mankind has refused understand. When Adam ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, he was detached from the guidance of the Holy Spirit, this means, the spirit of man and the Holy Spirit couldn’t mix as they were different. The spirit of man is more important than any other creature, man wasn’t created a creature but living being having the image of God dwelling in him, now that man has a new available to have the fullness of Christ dwell in him, which is much greater than the life the first Adam was given at the beginning, how would man have a perfect life?

The main reason why we still see the Sons of God behave like men of the world is that they don’t know who they are, and to know who they are, they need to have faith, now, faith won’t exist till they know what has been given to them by Grace from God. It is when they properly get transformed by what they have received that faith grows, and hope strengthens them to stay strong on what they believe as faith by Grace.

Now, what is very important is that man always needed a direction to know what to do exactly, and this is the job of the Holy Spirit, and we need to be very close to Him, as He is ever ready to direct us. Nothing in life is difficult as long as you have the Holy Spirit as your guardian. With the Holy Spirit, your life is organised and you would fulfill what you were born to do. You are not an animal, but just the animals know exactly what to do which they do, we too should boost our faith through the word of God and be guided by the Holy Spirit, and see our lives transformed as we do exactly what we are born here on earth to do.

It is About Others and Not About You (Part 2)

Happy Weekend everyone,

Yesterday, I made us understand that our focus as Sons of God has been more about ourselves and less about others. As I quoted Matthew 7:12a, which says, “Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them”, this was what Jesus wanted us to understand and spread. The verse concluded saying, “…for this is the Law and the Prophets.” Now, the Law and the Prophets are both fulfilled in Jesus, as the He is the fulfillment everything the Law and the Prophets talked about.

Jesus was asked by a lawyer what the great commandment in the law was, and Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:37-40). The first thing to note here is that love the Lord God with our whole being, this is in line with offering ourselves as living sacrifices which is our reasonable act of worship, (ref.: Romans 12:1), it is when this is done that you would then be able to love your neighbour as yourself, but the flesh is very selfish and wouldn’t want that to happen, this where the Holy Spirit comes in.

We say the world is in disarray, but when we love our neighbours as ourselves, being concerned about others, the world is transformed. You must also know that you cannot love your neighbour as yourself without love, yeah, and this love comes from God alone. You may be bothered about your neighbour not appreciating it, but you shouldn’t expect your neighbour to appreciate it, because you were sent to transform a world who doesn’t know what true love is, and doesn’t care for others. Love is very, very powerful and cannot be hidden when expressed in the smallest of things, with time the neighbour sees love in all you’ve been doing and gets transformed because love is full of sacrifices which a regular person won’t want to express.

You might be thinking about the sacrifices involved in caring for others, but have you forgotten sacrificing is not a new thing to you. Don’t forget you wake up early in the morning to get to work on time, you do everything to ensure you finish a project before its deadline, you pull some stunts in order not to get fired, and other things related to that. All these have been sacrifices pulled for your job, but this is the wrong intention, because it is a selfish sacrifice because it is more about yourself, but on the contrary, parents make a lot of sacrifices for their children which is amazing. But our love shouldn’t end with our children. The world is disarray because people don’t care what happens to others, even if they appear as if they do, it is a marketing agenda which is still selfish and without love.

To get a sane world with the love of God, the Sons of God must recognise their task, and that their task is not in enriching themselves, but to transform the world by being the light and salt of the earth, (ref.: Matthew 5:13-16). When a man has been given everything, would his focus be to enrich himself still? No, it won’t, this is what Jesus has done for us and, we have received everything we would ever need in our lives, as this is true our focus should be to enrich others as ourselves. Jesus went deeper, by saying we should not just love our neighbour as ourselves, but that we should love one another, as He loves us, (ref.: John13:34), wow. By transforming the world, you are pleasing God, because it is an act of faith, and remember is not about yourself but about others, and as you remember others, God will make others remember you.

It is About Others and Not About You

Hello everyone,

Everyone wants a great life, where you have enough money to do anything, no debt on your head, good health, landed properties and others. We want that fame, respect from people, so that anywhere we go we are well recognised. For Sons of God, many would expect that as they received Christ into their lives everything turns to their favour, don’t get me wrong, something extraordinary happened to everyone who received Christ which is to their favour, but what they feel is that they are still like everybody else, what makes them different is that they start getting promotion when they pray, they receive good health when they are praying for healing, and other things, is this wrong? The point I’m trying to point out is that everyone thinks about themselves a lot and think less of others. Today, my write-up is channeled to the Sons of God, those who the world call born again Christians.

As Sons of God, do you know what you got when you received Christ as Lord of your life? Many would know, but are you conscious of it as you go about your daily duties? The point here is that the life the old Adam left was a life of how to survive, which is completely different from the life of the last Adam—Christ left. As Sons of God, you do not do things to survive, in other words, we wake up very early in the morning to beat traffic in order not to get late for our 9-5 work, which we must go for, or else there won’t be food on the table. This mentality is called the slavery mentality. I’m not saying at all that you shouldn’t work or you shouldn’t wake up early in the morning to beat traffic, what I’m saying is for you to know that as Sons of God, you are not working to survive, the fear of not getting food on the table if we don’t work shouldn’t be our drive, our drive shouldn’t be about ourselves, but about others.

To be conscious of who you bring out the true you in you, which was received when Christ became your life. Now, does your son or daughter need to work before you as a parent give them food, clothing, shelter, and the basic things in life? The answer is no. We forget that we are now Sons of God, and God is our Father and has blessed us with all Spiritual blessings, which as we transform our minds affect our physical being. Our approach should be to understand that you have gotten everything you need, then our focus should be on transforming the lives of others with the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Wherever you’re working, your purpose here on earth is not about having a great life [which you received in Christ Jesus], rather our focus should be on transforming the lives others. We shouldn’t go to church and give a lot of testimonies of how you were promoted at work or something about you, rather our testimonies should more of how people’s lives have been transformed by God through you or others. As Sons of God, you don’t and cannot lack anything because to lack means Christ is lacking, because remember as He is so are you in this world, (ref.: 1 John 4:17), and it would also mean that God our Father cannot take good care of us, which would also make Him out to be a liar because Jesus said if we who are evil know how to give good things to our children, how much more our heavenly Father who would give good things to His children who asks Him, (ref.: Matthew 7:9-11).

Matthew 7:12a says, “Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them”, this was that Jesus came to establish as we spread the good news about His love for mankind and what He has done for us, but when you don’t live the life you were called to live, would those who haven’t received Christ listen to you? Think about it.

The Illusion of Control

Hello everyone,

Yesterday, I gave an introduction to The Illusion of Control. I explained that many think God has complete sovereignty over the decisions we make, thus, everything on earth, but He doesn’t because He has given us the power of choice, so it would appear that we are free to do whatever we want and as such we have the power to control anything we want, it would imply that the illusion of control is not an illusion, but control itself? So what is this illusion of control?

According to Science Daily, “Illusion of control is the tendency for human beings to believe they can control or least influence outcomes that they demonstrably have no influence over.” But if we think we have control over things, where does prophecy fall under? For instance, the Bible prophesied about the virgin birth, which occurred, there were also prophecies about Jesus here on earth which He fulfilled. There were other prophecies which were fulfilled and prophesies yet to be fulfilled, doesn’t that make 'the illusion of control' an illusion which is unreal, as human beings think they have control over things but it is unreal? Let’s take a look at the scriptures.

God said to the Israelites in Deuteronomy 30:19, “I call on heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.” God presented two options to the children of Israel, these two options are the only options that exist, but God only advised them on the way to take, if they decided to choose the opposite direction, it was their choice. However, God who knows all things, knows every move that would be encountered in any choice made, in other words, it appears as though He knows every route, and He who watches the heart would tell easily where each heart is set, this is most definitely how God knows our every move, but it is more mysterious and deeper than this.

From the moment Adam was created, God had provided a solution if man failed, which was the coming of Christ, as the scripture says that Jesus was slain before the foundation of the world, which would also imply that God had birthed it in His heart. But when Christ was born, He didn’t have a plan B because He knew that Jesus would be focused, and would fulfill His purpose, or else He wouldn’t have birthed it in His heart that Jesus was slain before the foundation of the world. So, since this is happening, does that mean we have complete control over our lives without it already being predestined, as God has given us the power of choice?

The truth to all these is that God who designed this world from the beginning kind of wrote all the ‘program’ of every character He ‘designed’, so nothing could surprise Him, even though we have the power to make choices, since He ‘designed’ us He would already know what choice we would make.

One thing we need to understand is that even though God is operating as a character in the movie we are living, He is also outside the box of the movie. He is neither good nor evil, He is who He is, in other words, I AM THAT I AM, we cannot understand Him because the real Him is outside the movie which our script cannot comprehend, which is why He is beyond our imagination or wildest dreams. So, if we think we really have control over our lives, yes we do, but also, God knows every move everyone is going to take, you cannot take Him by surprise, which is why we need to work with the Holy Spirit who knows every right move to make without errors, so that within the movie that we live, we would have the control of our lives in line with the writer of the play—God!

The Illusion of Control (Introduction)

Hello everyone,

I love cartoons a lot, but not just any cartoon, the cartoon movies are what I really enjoy and learn from even at my age. I wrote about a quote I got from a cartoon movie, and today I’ll write on another thing I got from the same cartoon, and that is the illusion of control. The illusion of control reminds of a debate in a course of mine when I was in the University which was to know if we are determined of free beings, in other words, do we control our lives by doing anything we want or are we being determined, that is, everything we do has been planned beforehand, we having control of it? I remember telling my lecturer back then that it is the combination of two, that is, we are free within a determined space and time. Now where does the illusion of control come in, and what is God’s role in all these? Read on.

Many people believe God has sovereign control or hold on everything that happens here on earth, but He doesn’t, if He did, everyone would have been a Son of God by now. We would see God’s powers display in things around us, but He cannot just control us, this is because He placed in us the power of choice [free moral agency], doesn’t it show that we are free to choose whatever we want to do at any point in time, thus having control over everything? So, where does the illusion of control come in? Log on same time tomorrow as I explain this great mystery on control if it’s a myth or the truth.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.
