Our Sacrifice For Others

Hello everyone,

The Message Bible puts 1 John 3:16-17 thus, “This is how we’ve come to understand and experience love: Christ sacrificed his life for us. This is why we ought to lay sacrificially for our fellow believers, and not just to be out for ourselves. If you some brother or sister in need and have the means to do something about it but turn a cold shoulder and do nothing, what happens to God’s love? It disappears. And you made it disappear.” Today’s topic is a continuation of yesterday’s topic.

1 John 3:16 emphasised on how we ought to do things sacrificially for our fellow believers, just as Christ Jesus was sacrificial to us as He laid down His life for us in order that we would live. But the love shouldn’t be expressed to the believers alone. Verse 17 of 1 John 3 says if we see a brother or sister in need, we shouldn’t turn a cold shoulder and do nothing. Sometimes we might say we don’t do such things, but when you look closer, you find out that we a time select those we would rather like to show love to, but this should not be. Our love in terms of help should be expressed to anyone in need when you have the means to help.

We often times condemn people, the way they dress or speak. We look at people who are not believers and do not have the class we can accommodate and condemn them, even when they are in need. The truth is that if that was how Christ treated us, nobody would be saved today. Also what we need to remind ourselves with is that we are sent as Ambassadors of Christ to the world, and it is Christ love shown through our way of life that not only meet these people in their time of need but also makes them want to follow Christ, this is so because it through Christ love for us that we are saved. We saw how in our condemned state He stretched out His hands in love towards us, thus accepting us, this is how we are to treat people because we are change agents.

When you truly meditate and understand the love Christ demonstrated towards us, we allow His love and not our love flow through us to the brothers and sisters around the world, because it is His love that saves, and we are to show this through our way of life.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!

Have Love For One Another

Hello everyone,

Living your life here on earth after receiving Jesus as your Lord and Saviour should always reflect how we treat others, not necessarily on literarily teaching them about Jesus, but what your attitude portray even without saying anything. Apostle Peter said in 1 Peter 4:8-9, “And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” 9 Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.” One thing we must understand is that the when Jesus became our life, love became our life also. We are meant to reflect our life, and as we know, God is love Who we are to reflect in all that we do.

Today we can understand love because we received love first from God Himself who is love, and because of that, we can have, love for one another. As we interact with people, we should always remember the love Christ showed even when we didn’t love Him. We were meant to be destroyed but Jesus took our place, for there is no greater love than this. Therefore, we should be quick to forgive because there is no sin anyone can commit against us that is up to that which Christ took on our behalf.

As we are quick to forgive, doesn’t mean we should be gullible in relating with people. Some people could lose our trust based on what they did, which means they would have earned it back, but this is different from forgiving the person based on love. We should also be hospitable to one another easily without grumbling and this is done through love and not pretence.

Let us always reflect the life that we have obtained from God through Christ Jesus. And as we continually get transformed by the renewal of our minds, it allows us to manifest the fullness of Christ as we interact with people.

Respect Your Governing Authorities

Hi everyone,

It is right to always respect the authority of the government just we are advised in Romans 13:1-7, but when we look at our government in this present day and age, some things could make you not respect the government. Well, that doesn’t mean Apostle Paul never had things that were issues from the government, so what did he mean by being subject to the governing authorities?

Romans 13:1 says, “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinances of God, and those who resist will bring judgement on themselves.” The truth of the whole matter is that we are always to be subject to the governing authorities if and only if they are subject to God. This is important because Romans 13:1 emphasised that there is no authority except from God and that all authorities are appointed from God. This is why you cannot be subject to an authority that isn’t subject to God.

God is the supreme authority, which as Sons of God you honour because He lives in you and is your life, so you being subject to any governing authority would be being subject to God because that authority is subject to God, but if the authority isn’t subject to God, you cannot serve two masters, you are either for God or against Him.

With some laws put in place in some countries where homosexuality is seen as normal, this isn’t being subject to God because that isn’t how God made us. God made Adam and Eve and not Adam and Steve, this is already established in the Bible that man and woman He made them, to procreate the earth.

The Holy Spirit establishes what the word of God says, He interprets to us what the word of God says for the transformation of our soul, and He cannot go outside what the word has established. We should be mindful of satan's devices as he is a mastermind in twisting the scriptures to confuse the church and the world as a whole. Anyone who isn’t subject to God is not to be subject to, that doesn’t mean you should rebel against the government. What you are meant to do is to be subject to God as He leads you when you worship and praise Him, and do what He tells you to do, and not you taking laws into your own hands.

Daniel is an example of remaining subject to God when the governing authority is no longer subject to God. The governors and satraps created a plot against Daniel: 7 All the governors of the kingdom, the administrators and satraps, the counsellors and advisors, have consulted together to establish a royal statute and to make a firm decree, that whoever petitions any god or man for thirty days, except you, O king shall be cast into the den of lions. 10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.” Daniel 6:7 & 10.

Daniel did what he normally does because he feared God and not man. In other words, God’s decree was weightier than any other decree. Peter and John were arrested after they made the crippled man walk. After being arrested and released, the authorities warned them not to speak at all or teach in the name of Jesus. This was Peter and John’s response, “But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” God is the one we are subject to and not man. We obey God and not man, and we become subject to any authority that is subject to God because that authority was truly placed by God.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Guard Your Tongue, Prevent Trouble

Hello everyone,

In my last write-up, my focus was on Proverbs 18:20 which says, “A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; from the produce of his lips he shall be filled.” I emphasised that only words of wisdom would get this done, words which add value to the lives of people are what Proverbs 18:20 is talking about. On the other hand, Proverbs 21:23 says, “Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles.” To speak with wisdom is not just to speak because you have a high level of knowledge, rather it is understanding the right time to speak, what to say, and who to say it to that matters.

One thing is to have knowledge, but knowledge has put many people in trouble because they lack wisdom, which is in line with what guarding your mouth means in Proverbs 21:23, and it doesn’t only refer to those who don’t have knowledge, but more to those who have all the knowledge, but don’t know how to apply it properly.

Several times, words have brought about quarrels just because someone didn’t speak the right words at the right time, or someone didn’t respond using the right words. But, the quarrel would have died immediately, but someone didn’t keep quiet, which made the quarrel to start. A wise man keeps quiet at the right time because he understands when to speak, and when not to speak. But one without understanding doesn’t know when to be quiet and he is regarded as a fool and this could put his or herself in trouble.

Wisdom is really the principal thing, and through her, you get promoted.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

The Satisfaction From Your Mouth

Happy New Week everyone,

We go to school and come out with degrees, we are proud of ourselves. But do you know all that you studied in school were theories created by people? If these people sat down and did nothing, you wouldn’t have had anything to study, and you wouldn’t have gotten that job that you are so happy about. Now, whether being led by the Spirit or by the self, it is the words of your mouth that determines what comes to him. Proverbs 18:20 says, “A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; from the produce of his lips he shall be filled.”

Satisfaction, in this case, is like a harvest of what the seed you sow through the words of your mouth, which in the long run leads you to success which is when you speak the right words. Your words are meant to create value that which those who listen to you would listen to and give to you because they consider your words as priceless, this was what happened to King Solomon as people came from far and wide to come and listen to his words of wisdom, and this was how he was filled from the produce of his mouth, meaning that people gained a lot from him and went back transformed, that was true satisfaction, not necessarily filling up the stomach with food only.

When Jesus spoke, people gathered and were amazed where He got such great words because they were priceless. The truth is that your words become your means to satisfaction when they create value in the lives of people, and Jesus said in John 14:26 that the Holy Spirit shall teach us all things which are very important in whatever we get involved in, He guides our words and make them priceless, or how else wouldn’t you rather stick with the One who knows all things than deceiving yourself by racking your brain on how to get things done? Just listen to the Holy Spirit and Proverbs 18:20 becomes your reality.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

The Words of The Understanding

Happy Sunday everyone,

There are people who speak and you are always amazed because of how much you can gain from them, while there are also people who speak and you try to avoid them because there is nothing to gain from them. Proverbs 10:13 says, “Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has understanding, but a rod is for the back of him who is devoid of understanding.” You cannot have understanding without first having Wisdom, because understanding depicts a person who knows why he needs to apply the Truth to his or her life, and the application of the Truth to life itself is Wisdom first of all. So, when He speaks He is not just applying Truth to life, He speaks to show that He knows why He did that. This was what Jesus displayed when He was here on earth.

A person who is devoid of understanding is that person who has refused to make Wisdom the principal thing. He is that person who rests on his self-knowledge which constantly fails him, but he keeps going back to his vomit even after being shown the way out through Wisdom. This is why he deserves the rod. And guess who does this? The world! They have hardened their hearts by not going the way of Wisdom by resting on their research and findings and also trying to dispute Wisdom as being wrong, even when they are wrong. It appears as a normal way of life, but this has caused chaos in the world, and yet, they still refuse to follow the path of Wisdom to gain understanding, this is why we who have the true understanding from God should shine our light even brighter for the devil doesn’t want anyone to know the Truth, so we need not rest our oars but take the world back for Christ.

The Slack and the Diligent Hands

Happy Weekend everyone,

I looked at the clock one day and found out how steady it ticked on and on without slowing down a little or missing a count or moving faster than it is meant to, it was just steady. I was to do something, and I went on steadily, but when I decided to slow down or wait for a little, but the clock didn’t wait for me, it went on. I was now the one running after it. Solomon said there is a time for everything (ref.: Ecclesiastes 3:1-8), and we are to live in the right time of things, being led by the Holy Spirit Who is always important.

Proverbs 10:4-5 says, “He becomes poor who works with a slack and idle hand, but the hand of the diligent makes rich. 5 He who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.” AMP. The one who is idle is the person who procrastinates all the time. He sees it is time to work, but sits down doing nothing, and ends up poor. But the diligent hand is the one who works by the time and season and doesn’t give up till he is done. He is the one who gathers in summer before the rush comes in, but the idle one sleeps when in the time of harvest and gathers nothing when he finally decides to go out. He is the one who blames others every time for his predicament.

We all have times in our lives where we procrastinate, we could say it is almost impossible to avoid, well, in a way it is. There was a time in my life when I was to do a thing and I was on it on and on and on again and wasn’t making any progress. I’m a man who likes to plan, and I planned my time properly, better than before, but something was always interrupting the flow and I ended up not completing it again. It was then I turned to the person who gave me the job to do. I asked Him, “how exactly am I supposed to get this job done, it appears I’ve been failing at it all the time, and it is quite frustrating.” It was then He said you finally asked the right question, and within a day He gave me His own plan, and how I’m to go about it. I wanted to cry tears of joy, I saw how quick it was for me to cover the entire assignment much faster than before and achieve great results. The man who gave me the job and the successful plans on how to carry out the assignment is the Holy Spirit. This story really happened, although the Holy Spirit wasn’t physically present as I described Him figuratively, but He was present.

We may say we don’t have any intention to be idle, but having a slack hand is having plans that don’t work and you keep creating new ones over and over again. When I emphasise on the Holy Spirit being your best friend, I’m not saying this just because it’s important, but because He is the only path to great success. He has never failed to make my path straight, and if the path isn’t straight at a point, it is because I didn’t follow His plans as He showed me, and it won’t come as a surprise to me because I know where I erred. And the good thing is that He is always there to strengthen you when you are down the moment you turn to Him as the only way.

Self-righteousness is the reason why some are poor today, and still some, even after being shown what and how to go about their assignment refuse to stand up, that is a strong reason why some are poor. The Lord ALWAYS provides for His children. If you are poor and you are a Son or Daughter of God, and you believe you don’t procrastinate, then you haven’t asked the right question, just the way I did before. He is always there to guide us and you need to be quiet because even when we are going the wrong way He is telling us the right path to take, but if you are noisy, you won’t hear Him. Be still and know that He is God.
