Being The Doer

Hello everyone,

When I was younger, there were times my mum or dad gave me instructions or gave me certain pieces of training, after which they would ask me if I got all they said, and my answer would be “yes”. But when they don’t see me do what they told me, it would appear to them that I didn’t listen to them when they were speaking. The same applies to every child of God when they listen to the Word of God. Apostle James said in James 1:22, “But be doers of the Word [obey the message], and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth].” AMP.

The Bible says in Romans 10:17 that faith comes by hearing, and what is being heard comes from the Word of God. So, when you really hear the Word of God, it brings or strengthens the faith in you. And if truly you have faith after hearing the Word of God, it affects your way of life, in other words, your doings are guided by what you heard, which implies that the Word remained in you.

The Message Bible puts James 1:22-24 thus, “Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you are a listener when you are anything but, letting the Word go in one ear and out the other. Act on what you hear! Those who hear and don’t act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away, and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like.” There is no way what you listen to doesn’t affect your actions, in other words, you are what you listen to. When you really listen to the Word of God, you act the Word of God, likewise, when you really listen to something order than the Word of God, you act that thing. It won’t happen immediately, but as seeds are, so are words, and what you listen to the most you display its attributes through your actions.

But the Word is alive and is God Himself. The Word transforms for the good of the life of anyone who yields to Him [the Word of God].

Psalms 1 talks about the man who meditates on the Word of God day and night, he ended up living the Word. And the Word made everything he did successfully. He didn’t just hear the Word, he lived the Word. This is how you manifest the fullness of Christ Jesus in your daily life.

A person who hears the Word but doesn’t do it didn’t actually pay attention to the Word or didn’t take it seriously. Let us take the Word of God seriously and meditate on it, and our faith in Christ Jesus will increase and we would see the promises of God for our lives manifest.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!

Focus On The Truth and Nothing Else (re-posted)

Hello everyone,

I looked at a coin, it had a head and a tail, but I noticed I couldn’t see both the head and the tail at the same time. It is the same with life there are just two sides to everything, that’s why the other side is called the opposite. Just the way we have right, the opposite is wrong; man, the opposite is a woman; north, the opposite is south, and so on. My emphasis on this is that our lives are governed by the side we choose in whatever area. We have the ability to change sides, but we cannot pick both at the same time. So, as Sons of God, there is a way God wants us to live, but we are often enticed by the opposite of what God offered us, suggestions to choose the opposite of how God wants us to live comes to us, the choice is then left to us. How then do we know how to identify the right stand with God as we live our daily lives?

Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:8 says, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble [honest], whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate in these things.” All the attributes underlined are attributes of God. When God speaks we understand that it carries all these attributes, take for instance—truth. Everything God says is true, He doesn’t lie and we can be sure on what He has said.

When a Doctor tells a person that he or she has been diagnosed with cancer and has a certain number of years to live that is not a good report but a bad one. In order to take a stand on this kind of matter, what did God say about this? We understand that by the stripes on Jesus, we were made healed. This is opposing what the doctor said, but it is a good report. Not just does it have a good report, it has virtue and it is a thing that is praiseworthy. This is what we are to meditate on. God doesn’t fill us with optimism, rather He tells us what is, take for instance His Grace through our Lord Jesus Christ, having the fullness of Christ in us, all these are not optimism but the truth.

We are to dwell on what God says, but in a general statement made as we move about, they need to have the attributes stated in Philippians 4:8, they must have virtue and should be a thing that is praiseworthy. When you get any statement which brings down your soul, which brings about worry, they are not from God, because they are not lovely nor are they good reports. When we are conscious of what we listen to or whatever thing our senses pick, this would allow us to channel our focus on the attributes of truth, honesty, justification, purity, love, good report, which are virtuous and are praiseworthy. These are the things we must meditate on and fix our minds on. Any other thing would oppose these attributes.

Fight The Good Fight

Hello everyone,

As a Son of God, you are to live and walk by faith, not just casually, but in everything you do. Living the life of faith is putting aside the way of life of this world and embracing the Grace God has given us as real and true. But the issue here is that to embrace the life of faith is not something you do like a cup of tea. It is something that is intense because it has to do with life itself, thus how you live, or better still, your existence as a person. It is not a theory you adopt that you could just drop when you’re tired of it, the life of faith is living your life, but the life God has given you.

The world operates under the evil one which is not in line with the Grace God has given us. Every day, we see this life which the world calls normal trying to get our attention, even when we now know that the life of Grace through faith is the true and real life, the only way is to fight the good fight of faith, but not being distracted by the way of the world.

We are to seek the face of Jesus in all that we do, for He is our source of faith and strength. As we look unto Jesus, we are strengthened, and our faith increases as we stand strong on the solid rock—Jesus [Grace]. We are to cast all our cares and worries aside, no matter what happens, these are also sources of distractions. We must meditate on the word of God, His promises towards us which are true and already in existence. As we believe and continually confess them, our faith increases and the hold of the world on us is weakened.

We all have a mandate which through the leading of the Holy Spirit we would achieve these goals. Christ is our prize which we are to strive for, and not the earthly, temporary trophy. And as Apostle Paul told Timothy in 1 Timothy 6:12 which says, “Fight the good fight of the faith; lay hold of the eternal life to which you were summoned and [for which] you confessed the good confession [of faith] before many witnesses.” AMP, we too should fight the good fight of faith and lay hold on eternal life, and Jesus told us what eternal life is in John 17:3, which says, “And this is eternal life: [it means] to know (to perceive, recognise, become acquainted with, and understand) You, the only true and real God, and [likewise] to know Him, Jesus [as the] Christ (the Anointed One, the Messiah), Whom You have sent.” AMP.

Knowing God/Jesus boosts our faith as we understand what being one with God really means. Stand strong in Christ by fighting the good fight of faith, which makes us sure of what we believe and have placed our life on, it is not for weak links and doubter, but for those who know Who they gave their lives to.

Know Which Risk To Take

Hello everyone,

I have said this before that everything we do in life, whether in the decisions we make or the choices we take are all defined as risks. The future is beyond us and anticipating it is what is common to man. Following the trends and patterns we see, we anticipate the future, and this is also defined as a risk. But with God, He doesn’t want us to use where we are to determine our future, He wants us to use Him to determine our future, and this is also a risk, but what risk are we going to take the risk of the ordinary man, or the risk God wants us to take.

Man cannot see beyond their nose, so, their anticipation can fail at any time, which we see everywhere around us as we see theories and predictions fail. But what is the assurance that taking the risk depending on God would go fine? It is the person who gave us the assurance—God.

Jesus who is God made us understand that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, (ref.: John 14:6). And being the Truth, it implies that He cannot conceive any lie. Whatever He says must come to pass. He is not an ordinary man that would lie, change their words, (ref.: Numbers 23:19), that is one phase. Another phase is that He knows the end from the beginning, with is an evidence to show for it through the scriptures and in people’s lives.

This goes to show that you can always bank on Jesus any time any day without getting disappointed. No matter what you are going through, once God has assured you of the success of the path you are taking, don’t get worried or anxious because He has assured you of victory, and the victory is already yours because Jesus has gone ahead to sort everything out, only walk into the victory set for you.

Don't Limit God [re-posted]

Happy New Week everyone,

When a question is posed, we often times give answers based on assumptions on what we feel the questionnaire is expecting from us, which seems normal. But we unknowingly prevent certain things from coming our way when we give our answer. Let me go through a story and you’ll find out why.

In John chapter 5, Jesus met a man who had had an infirmity for thirty-eight years. “When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”” Now, Jesus had asked the sick man if he wanted to be made well, but the sick man’s response wasn’t what I expected. “The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.””

We often limit ourselves with the way we answer questions. The sick man had concluded that the only way to get his healing was to be pushed into the pool after it being stirred by the angel, but that wasn’t Jesus was driving at. What Jesus did was to throw him an open cheque, but the sick man limited himself with his answer.

When walking with God you must not limit yourself with your knowledge and wisdom, which is full of limitation which could stand in your way. This is because with Man many things are impossible, but with God, all things are possible. So, open up your heart and mind to God who is always right and never wrong. Once an open cheque is given, do not expect things to go with your status quo, because that, which is beyond your wildest dreams are what Jesus would give to you, so don’t limit yourself by limiting God.

The Image of Christ [re-posted]

Happy Sunday everyone,

If you try to be a good Son of God, in other words, if you try to be a good Christian by yourself, you’ll fail, and here’s why. To receive Jesus into your life doesn’t give your ‘you’ the license to do anything it wants and it becomes ok with God. Actually, it was the ‘you’ doing things on its own that Adam did and the world does which God never wanted because it has its root in the knowledge of good and evil. So, how then do you live as a Son of God and not living using you ‘you’ to live? Is that even possible? It is, and I’ll tell you how, so keep reading.

Jesus said in John 5:19, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.” Jesus in John 14:9-10 responded to Philip’s question for Jesus to show them [the disciples] the Father. And Jesus said, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own I authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.” The thing is Jesus did have a ‘Him’. The ‘Him’ we always referred to was actually when reading about Jesus was actually God, there was no self in any way because He was completely led by the Spirit, in other words, led by God, this is why the scripture says, “He is the image of the invisible God” Colossians 1:15a, but some would think because He is God this was why He did everything perfectly. But seriously, how else was He meant to live a perfect life if not because God had to live through Him which is the only way the Sons of God can live a perfect life, but that is not all.

As Sons of God, you need to understand that there is no ‘you’ anymore but only Jesus Christ. Apostle James wrote in his epistle that the word of God is a mirror. In James 1:23-25, he wrote that if anyone hears the word of God and does nothing with it, is like a man looking at himself in a mirror and as he leaves, he immediately forgets what he saw, on the other hand, anyone who hears the word of God and continues in the word, thus doing the word would be that man who looked into the mirror and saw himself but as he left, didn’t forget what he saw. The question now is “what did he see”? Verse 25c of James 1 says, “…this one will be blessed in what he does.” What the man saw wasn’t himself, rather, what he saw was 'Himself'—Jesus.

As I said earlier, Jesus’ personality was clearly God living in Him, the same is what every Son of God should understand when they look into the mirror, which is the word of God. First of all, the word of God is talking about and referring to Jesus Christ, He is the One we are to see when we look into the mirror and not the ‘you,’ because the moment you received Jesus into your life, you became Him, you were given His Spirit which is Himself, which is why you have His mind and you are a joint heir with Him, and why as He is so are you here on earth. (ref.: 1 Corinthians 2:16; Romans 8:17; 1 John 4:17). The scripture further puts that we are equipped to attain the full measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, (ref. Ephesians 4:13), which your Spirit already has, but your mind or soul needs to grow into it which is what Romans 12:2 talks about when it says we need to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. The only challenge here is that if you don’t see Christ when you look into the mirror or don’t see yourself as Christ when you are studying the scriptures, you cannot attain the purpose of your calling here on earth, and all that you are doing is just a waste of time.

Hebrews 11:6 says, without faith it is impossible to please God. Abraham saw himself as a father of many nations, and not a future father of many nations even before Isaac was born, this is called faith, thus calling that which be not, as though they were, (ref.: Romans 4:17), but Abraham was already a father of many nations, he had to understand and feel that as already existing, not feeling optimistic, but seeing it in reality, this is faith. Likewise, we are to see ourselves as Jesus is right now, and not a future view of things to come, and as you do this you see that you are indeed the physical manifestation of Jesus here on earth. This is why the church is called the body of Christ, otherwise, if this weren’t so the church won’t be in sync with the head who is Jesus.

Every Son of God is the image of Jesus and is expected to portray every single characteristic of Jesus Christ, therefore, everything that is Him and is 'Him' is also in you, and anything that is not in Him or Him is not in you. In other words, since Jesus is above death, you are above death, since Jesus is above sickness, disease, principalities, and power, above the devil, above poverty, likewise you are also above all these things. And since Jesus has perfect health, a brand new life, the wealth of God, the wisdom of God, and many more, likewise you also have all these things. It would be foolish of you to lower yourself below Jesus Christ or raise yourself above Him which can NEVER be possible. The reason we cannot and shouldn’t do that is that we are one with Him, in fact, we are in Him. Your life is now hidden in Christ because you died and He is now your life, (ref.: Colossians 3:3-4). Remember, you are the image of Christ.

The Devil's Distraction In Our Lives

Happy Weekend everyone,

Yesterday, I wrote on how the devil creates distractions for us so that we would lose focus on Jesus, Whom we are to always fix our eyes on. As Jesus is our perfection, and as we keep on gazing at Him we become perfected in our soul and body, as our spirit is already perfect. We are not to be distracted whatsoever by the devil, as he uses several tricks even that which a times feel is normal, such as trying to figure out the answers to certain questions about our lives. But still, we try to reason these questions out using our physical intellect, and in turn, we don’t focus on Jesus, which is what the devil wants. The truth as I established is that as we keep our focus on Jesus, the more we become perfected and we see our questions being answered, so just focus on Jesus.

Today’s write-up is focused on the distractions from the devil, distractions which we never knew were completely tricks from the devil, and could affect our spiritual growth. Let’s find out this distraction.

What exactly is this distraction? Procrastination! Yes, it is. I’ve written on procrastination before, but not directed at the devil as the evil mastermind behind this scheme.

Procrastination in simple terms according to Cambridge Dictionary online means, “to keep delaying something that must be done, often because it is unpleasant or boring.” Procrastination in many ways come as tricks from the devil. We must understand that the devil doesn’t control us, all that he does is to make suggestions to us, like someone whispering in our ears, advising us on what to do, so, when God who has designed as a perfect plan for us gives us a pattern to follow concerning a thing, the devil comes and asks us to delay that thing. And as we delay, we are intruding into other times where we would have done something else, and we either get what God asked us to do, but at the wrong time, or don’t get it done at all.

The Lord God knows us very well better than we know ourselves, and has arranged what we are to do according to a certain time, as the Lord is very keen on time management, which is why prophecies get manifested at the right time ordained by God in the first place, also why you would see the life of Jesus Whom the scriptures in several cases makes reference Him moving when the time had come, this implies that God knows when we are meant to do certain things, and if we don’t do them we spoil the plan at that time, and we would go back to God to give us another chance, but the devil gets happy when we don’t move at certain points.

When we say we’ll do these things later, especially that which God has ordained us to do, we fall victim of the devil’s plans by procrastinating. Why is this so? It is so because the devil doesn’t want us to follow the plans and purposes of God for our lives, so he makes suggestions to us which would make us consider procrastinating, and if we eventually do, we have fallen victim of the devil’s plans. And the more we procrastinate, it could give room for other things we never bargained for to come our way, such as fear, doubt, and unbelief, all because they were certain things we were to gain by fulfilling God’s will, by doing certain things at a particular time. So, doing those things at the wrong time make us lose focus on Jesus, as we start asking questions, as to why certain things aren’t happening in lives, which makes us fall victim to the devil through fear, doubt, and unbelief.

Don’t be a victim of the devil, do things at the right time, and watch God’s blessings manifest in your life.
