A Look At His Love

Hi everyone,

Last time, I wrote on “Releasing The Supernatural” as I used the miracles performed by Jesus as an example, depicting that Jesus Himself didn’t perform the miracles, but it was God who performed the miracles through Jesus. All these was because Jesus had complete trust in God His Father. Jesus’ complete trust was as a result of the love God had towards Him which was what Jesus knew and understood the depth of His Father’s love towards Him, to make Him trust every word he said, which is faith. The same is expected of true Christians (Sons of God), to completely trust in Jesus, and that would be to meditate on the love God has towards us through Jesus as we search the scriptures. As we know how much love is bestowed upon us, it strengthens our faith and trust in Christ which increases more and more. Today, I’ll take a look at the great love bestowed upon us, as I look into what it’s all about.

The love bestowed upon us by God through Jesus is a love of grace, in order words, it is the love we don’t deserve. We were meant to be done away with, as we know Adam sinned and sold us into a spirit of sin, therefore, everyone born was born into sin. As a result of that, we were committing sinful acts which are punishable by God, but God in His love and mercy took the curse of sin place upon us and replaced it with His righteousness, and this was done when He had to come among us a human, the only one without the sin nature.

This is just a tip of the love shed upon us, next time, I’ll continue from where I stopped today, showing to us the greatness of God’s love for us.

May the LORD bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you. May the LORD be gracious to you and lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. AMEN.

Why not accept Jesus today if you haven’t. Pray out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. By faith in Your Word, I receive salvation now. Thank You for saving me!” Congratulations, you’re born again, you are now brand new!

Releasing The Supernatural

Hello everyone,

One thing I have come to understand is that once you don’t relate to Christ the way Jesus related with His Father (God), then you would just be struggling in your Spiritual growth in Christ Jesus. What I mean by this is simple, Jesus had a complete trust in His Father, and it was as a result of these that He was able to operate excellently here on earth. Well, this write-up is still related to the point I’ve been hammering on from the beginning of the year, which is thanksgiving.

Let’s take a look at some miracles of Jesus when He was here physically on earth. The feeding of the 5,000, recorded in all the gospels, [ref.: Matthew 14:13-21; Mark 6:30-44; Luke 9:10-17; John 6:1-14] before Jesus distributed the bread and fish to His disciples for further distribution, He gave thanks to God. Now, giving thanks to God by Jesus wasn’t to fulfill all righteousness, rather, it was an act of faith, in other words, Jesus was thanking God that He (God) had used the five loaves to feed the five thousand, this was clearly an act of faith. It is only when you have complete trust in a person that you trust the person when the situation appears completely hopeless.

Again, in the raising of Lazarus, Jesus’ friend, according to the Jews, a person is confirmed dead after three days, but Jesus visited on the fourth day, which again was a helpless situation because it was day four. The people around crying over the death of Lazarus was enough reason to kill the faith of Jesus, but it didn’t because Jesus had complete trust in His Father. Jesus in the gospel of John 11:41b-42 spoke to His Father saying, Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.” Jesus hadn’t performed the miracle but He was already thanking His Father, it is only one who has complete and absolute trust in a person that would take such a risk. And of course, we know the end of the story, Lazarus was brought back to life!

The summary of all these is that Jesus on His own never performed any miracles, but allowed His Father to perform miracles through Him. Jesus said it that He has no authority of His own, that He does what He sees His Father do, [ref. John 5:19; 8:38; 14:10]. But was is because Jesus came from heaven that made Him have access to such great power? That is not the key reason, the main reason was and is that the Father loves the Son and the Son loves the Father. Now, it’s not just that the Father loves the Son, but that Jesus knows how much the Father loves the Him, and the love is so strong that Jesus could trust Him to the end over anything that His Father tells Him.

Let us, first of all, remember that God the Father and Jesus His Son are not liars, we as Sons and Daughters of God are connected to Jesus who is the firstborn. We are to know how much Jesus loves us, it is when we know the depth of His love for us that we make our faith grow deeply. But as we search the scriptures, we are to meditate on how much God loves us through Jesus Christ and the grace He has bestowed upon us. It is as we grow in the knowledge of His love for us that our faith is strengthened and we live the supernatural life here on earth by allowing Christ flow through us.

In my last write-up, I said we need to yield ourselves to Christ more and more in order to have a life of thanksgiving and gratitude. But the deeper truth is that we cannot live the supernatural unless we allow Christ to flow through us and that can only be by knowing and understanding how much Christ loves us. His love for us is so deep that we cannot get to its depth, but as we go deeper, we unleash the powers and authority of the resurrected Jesus in our daily living, and giving thanks becomes our lifestyle. It’s all about His love for us.

His Strength and Not Your Strength

Hello everyone,

There are many things in life that we feel we could put in more effort in order to get a better result, but even when we put more effort into that thing, we don’t get a better result. First of all, what are those things? Recently, I’ve been talking about having the spirit of thanksgiving in everything we do, now one of these things is thanksgiving. As I said from the beginning of the year that we need to have the spirit of thanksgiving and gratitude in everything we do. I emphasised that God wants us to give thanks in everything, but it appears we do not do so all through the year, and as I said it is paramount that we give thanks in everything and at every time. But when we see this as very important, we then feel we need to put in more effort, but the extra effort put doesn’t improve the situation, so what could be wrong?

Starting from 1 Thessalonians 5:16, Apostle Paul told the Thessalonians that they should rejoice always, and then they should pray without ceasing (the praying without ceasing is having a better relationship with God/Jesus, having an open mind to God as you live), then Paul went ahead to say in everything we should give thanks. But many of us must have tried to ensure we rejoice always, pray without ceasing and give thanks for everything, but it becomes a tough thing to accomplish. The reason why this is so is that it is not possible to do so by yourself, in other words, there is no effort you put in that would make you have a spirit of thanksgiving. So how can this be accomplished?

Jesus, when He spoke to the woman of Samaria in the Gospel of John, said in chapter 4:24, “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” The truth is that anything that has to do with God must be done from the spirit realm, to elaborate further, the moment you receive Christ as Lord and saviour, Jesus became your life as the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of Jesus is perfect and without fault, and just as Jesus said the Son can do nothing of Himself, but that which He sees the Father do is that which He does, [ref.: John 5:19], is the same way we allow the Spirit of Jesus take over our lives, in other words, we die so that He takes over.

As we yield ourselves more to Jesus, the character and attitude of Jesus start to get portrayed in our day to day activities through the fruit of the Spirit. It is only one who allows the Spirit of Jesus to flow through Him that can rejoice always, pray without ceasing and give thanks in all things because it is not of your ability but the ability of Jesus in you.

In order to live the life God wants you to live, yield more to Jesus by allowing Him to work through you, because, no matter how hard you try, you will never meet up to God’s standards, but in Christ, He would do every perfect thing through you.

Gather Strength Through Thanksgiving

Hello everyone,

It’s the second day of the New Year, how well are we being grateful to God? Those who read my last write-up would know what I’m talking about. If you’ve not read it, I’ll advise you do.

Thanksgiving is a very important thing that we should always do, as I said yesterday, it shouldn’t be a routine, rather it should be a lifestyle. By it being a routine doesn’t make it part of you, in other words, it is like being forced to do a thing, but by it being a lifestyle is what you are known for, how you live your life.

Apostle Paul in his first letter to the Thessalonians in chapter 5:18, he said, “in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” By giving thanks, we live the will of God for our lives, but the sentence didn’t start from verse 18, the full sentence started from verse 16 to 18, and it says, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” The Amplified puts it thus:
“Be happy [in your faith] and rejoice and be glad-hearted continually (always); be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly]; thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].”
So apart from giving thanks, we should rejoice, be happy in faith over everything. Also, we are to persevere when we pray, now prayer here doesn’t mean the demanding kind of prayer, but what it means is that our minds should be in tune with God at every moment, which really is prayer, it is there and then that we would be able to give thanks in all things, because you rejoice always in faith, and your mind is in tune with the Lord for communication with God at every moment and vice versa.

Why is it that we don’t always give God thanks and show gratitude to Him? It is because we entangle ourselves in situation and circumstances that negate the giving God thanks. We may go trials in our lives such the death of a loved one, financial issues, health issues, marital issues, and so on; but in all these let us not forget that dwelling on these things does not change anything, they are only detrimental to our lives, it is only in Jesus that we can find the strength to move on. And as we look unto Jesus, we find how the miraculous happen in our lives.

Giving thanks is what builds our faith in God even in tough times. Yes, it may appear tough, but why dwell in a place that benefits you nothing, rather than getting strength from Jesus to move, looking at His love for us, all that He went through on the cross just for you, He died that you may live. Let us focus on what He obtained for us in His resurrection, it is when we focus on this that we can rejoice always, pray without ceasing and give God thanks in everything, and open the doors of grace over our lives. Remember, it’s not about you, but it’s all about Him so that He may strengthen us in all aspect.

What Should You Focus On This New Year?

Happy New Year Everyone!

Wow, it’s a brand new year 2018, I’m so excited, 2017 just came and went, but we’ve been given a brand new set of 8,760 hours, how do we plan on spending it?

As the saying goes, experience is the best teacher. We must have observed how 2017 went, its ups and downs, and with that, we won’t want to repeat the flaws of the previous year in this New Year. So, how do we prevent committing the same errors of the previous year?

When you meet a builder or a civil engineer, he would tell you the most important part of the magnificent structure is the foundation! And this part is never seen, but without it, there won’t be a magnificent structure. The same applies to our lives especially in this New Year, our foundation is very important.

In order to have a great year, we need to pay attention to our foundation, in other words, whatever we intend to do won’t succeed unless our foundation is right. How did you enter the New Year? Psalms 100:4 says, “Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.” this applies to entering a New Year, in the sense that you are grateful to the creator of time and space for giving you another round of 8,760 hours. The truth is that gratitude is very important and it goes a long way, and why is that? What we fail to understand is that whatever we start the year with is what we start building things on. So, as we start the year with thanksgiving to God, we place the next thought upon that thanksgiving and on and on like that.

Many would say they are always thankful for a brand new year, but we must also understand that every second we spend here on earth is brand new, which would imply that we should be thankful at every point in time, gratitude should be expressed towards God every second of our lives, at least, starting with this New Year. The essence is that gratitude to God is an expression of faith, and faith is what pleases God [ref.: Hebrews 11:6]. Also, we don’t need a great event to happen before we are grateful, we should be grateful for simple things like the food you eat, the clothes you put on, a roof over your head, and so on. It is with a heart like this that we ourselves unlock the door of grace and favour over our lives in every area.

Apostle Paul understood the importance of giving thanks, which was why he told the Thessalonians, “in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). So, thanksgiving in everything is the will of God for, and we shouldn’t take this for granted. Do not fret if you’ve tilted away from thanksgiving already, you could start all over again. It should not be a routine, rather it should be a lifestyle. There are things around us that seem so simple and irrelevant but we should be grateful to God for.

Make thanksgiving and gratitude to God as your foundation this year and you would see how this year would be recorded by you as your best year yet. Once again, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

As We End The Year 2017...

Happy New Year’s Eve everyone,

You might have taken a look at the year all the way from January to December, looked at all your achievement, and could have been disappointed at yourself, maybe you didn’t fulfill your dreams or goals for the year, or maybe you didn’t get to do what God asked you to do. Yeah, I understand that feeling, because I made a lot of mistakes myself this year, and looking at the end of the year, it was not what I expected it to be, I expected to have completely fulfilled my goals. But guess what? Even if everyone is mad at you for not fulfilling your dreams or goals, just know that God is not mad at you, so don’t get mad at yourself.

I felt I had disappointed God until He reminded me the meaning of Grace which is an unmerited, undeserved favour, which means that even if I had completed the goals for the year, whatever I might have gotten I also didn’t deserve it, which goes to show God is looking at something else entirely outside our action, I’ll get to that in a moment.

God is ever merciful to us beyond our wildest dreams. The scriptures say in Lamentations 3:22-23, “Through the LORD’S mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” These verses are one the reasons why I love the hymn Great Is Thy Faithfulness, I often sing this hymn to strengthen me and remember God’s faithfulness even when I fall or make mistakes.

Now, let’s not get this wrong, this doesn’t go to say we’re free to make mistakes as we like, it just goes to show that God doesn’t look at our actions, but our heart or where our heart lies. God is after our heart and not our action, where our heart lies gives birth to our actions eventually after a certain period of time. Just as a child’s heart is set on walking, though he may fall several times, eventually, he would walk because his heart is set on walking. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (NIV), to God, the heart is the more important than our actions because our actions just go to show what is in our heart.

I was also reminded that it’s not about what we do, striving to please Him, but about all what He has done for us, showing His abundant love and extravagant grace towards us. To please God is just by relying on, believing and having complete trust in Him, in other words, having faith in Him. It is when we dwell on His love for us that we can get things right in our heart and lives. Our strength will fail us, but His love for us is His strength bestowed on us, that can never fail.

You may not be happy about how the year ended, but just remember that God is not the God of the second chance as many call Him, instead He is the God of the ‘forever’ chance which we would enjoy as we dwell in His love for us.

So as we end the year 2017, know that you shouldn’t lose heart or faith, be thankful to Jesus for getting you this far, because He is your strength for the distance, and just as the saying goes, it’s not about how you fall, but it’s about how well you pick yourself back up. Happy New Year in Advance.

Be a Shinning Example This Season

Hello everyone,

I looked at John 9 again, just as I did in a write-up of mine recently. The chapter was about the blind man whom Jesus restored His sight. There was a lot of controversy over the restoration of the blind man’s sight from the Pharisees, they felt Jesus performed miracles on the Sabbath, and as such, He should be brought to book. I went through the entire chapter and I saw that there are many Pharisees today who have lost focus completely. My write-up today is to relate the event that went down in John 9 with our environment today.

As I have said before and I would say it again, Christianity is not a religion, but many have made it so without thinking, focusing on dogma without using their senses again. In John 9, the disciples of Jesus when they saw the blind man wanted to know who sinned that made the man blind, so they asked Jesus. Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.” Jesus made it clear that it was His responsibility to restore the sight of the man, all these is because of the fallen nature of man which brought about the man’s blindness. Jesus recognised His responsibility given to Him by God. Jesus had to show love to the man by restoring the sight of the blind man, displaying the love God has for humanity, but religion won’t make you see the love of God.

The blind man before Jesus healed him didn’t believe in Jesus, when Jesus gave him his sight the Pharisees started interrogating the man who was once blind. They were more of Jesus committing an offense to perform miracles on Sabbath than on the miracle itself. Many of us focus a lot on rules and regulations and forget what they are meant to do. The church today is to bring the lost closer to them by showing love to them through their actions, rather than condemning them. What the church needs to understand is that transformation is in their hands, but if they condemn unbelievers over their actions, they would unknowingly increase the number of unbelievers.

Jesus showed love to the man who was blind by restoring his sight, and because of what Jesus did, he was able to defend the actions of Jesus as a righteous act when in the presence of the Pharisees, [ref.: John 9:25, 31-34]. When Jesus found the man later, He said to him, “Do you believe in the Son of God?” He answered and said, Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?” And Jesus said to him, “You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking with you.” Then he said, “Lord, I believe!” And he worshiped Him.” John 9:35b-38.

Just an act of kindness was shown to the man which made him believe in Jesus. Do you think he would have believed if Jesus had just spoken to him alone? What are you doing today? You are the change agent the world has been waiting for, look unto Jesus and live His life.
